February Contest Opportunity at BusinessBlogger.net

Another opportunity found!! New contest for the month of February at businessblogger.net. This time a chance to win USD500 in paypal money (grand prize) or a BFG NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT OC 512MB PCIe with ThermoIntelligence Graphics Card (runner up). The first prize, I (we) can use; the second one, my husband would love:)

This contest is part of businessblogger’s drive to promote their new business-directory which is offering free listing for the month of February 2008. And who wouldn’t love being listed for free! So yep, I’ve sent them my link to be put up onto their directory (more traffic!). That’s the first step to take in entering this contest. Plus I have put up this post and linked back to their contest page. So yes, you should do it too!

This is the kind of opportunity I mentioned before. Contests are great for bloggers as the people holding the competion get the needed exposure and the people joining get the challenge (and thrill) of anticipating a win. Also, good for link backs to get your blogs more known. A chance for networking too, won’t you say..

So yep, go ahead. Visit their directory, put up your link, write a post about it in your own words (no duplicating) and add links to their contest page and directory (all that in at least 250 words). And you’re done! Now you’re in the running to win a fabulous prize!

Many thanks to Karlonia who recently dropped by my site! I felt the instinctive need to visit yours and stumbled upon this competition:) Take care and good luck to everyone involved!

StumbleUpon It!

  1. Wow, thank you for the link! The contest seemed like a pretty good idea - the sponsors are using it as a promotional tool for their new directory, but this should help us too because the new directory will have many links pointing to it from all of the contest participants. This means that our directory links are more likely to be indexed faster by the search engines and carry more weight because the directory itself will have more “link juice”.

Eventually, I’m thinking about having a contest of my own, one that could not only bring in some traffic, but also some much-needed content that would free up time for me to concentrate on other areas such as marketing and promotion. The basic idea would be to have an essay/article writing contest where people would submit articles in exchange for a link back to their sites which could be placed either in the body text, in an “about the author” section at the end, or in an “extended byline” paragraph at the beginning.

It would work much like ezinearticles.com or other article directory sites, except that I could offer some small cash prizes for the best quality articles and give them special recognition on the site. What I am not sure about is whether there would be enough people willing to write or submit articles. I could wind up getting too much duplicate content or not enough submissions to make it worthwhile. But then again, the article directories always seem to have plenty of content coming in and lots of traffic from search engines, so theoretically the idea could work if I could somehow manage to promote it effectively.

  2. You’re welcome Karlonia! Actually I did read about you wanting to hold an essay writing competition. You should have a theme for it definitely. Something that many people would be willing to share about and be in the running to win something in return. And the other thing is to not put a minimum number of words for the essay. To me, it stunts ones creativity. My opinion anyway! Keep up the interesting contents:)
