Away for an Emotional Management Course

Hi everyone,

Today’s been a pretty hectic week. Apart from having extra responsibilities at work (I’m covering for my boss), I had to attend a 4 day course at Port Dickson (while still having to complete office assignments - thank goodness for the internet). But I’m glad I agreed to attend the course. It was one on emotional management and covered topics in psychology which I absolutely love! I’m thinking of doing a MSc in Psychology now.. Yeah.. probably the best option for me, a field that I am very familiar with, enjoy reading about and would love to learn more about and master at :) .

I took my son with me to Port Dickson with my mom in tow. It was necessary so he wouldn’t miss his feeding sessions. Despite having to attend and focus on the course day and night, nurse my son in between and stay up late to finish off office reports, I still managed to enjoy myself and benefit from a well-deserved break from the office envirionment.

Port Dickson is a lovely beach town. The place we stayed at had it’s own private beach which stretched for miles. The waters were beautiful. My husband who came to stay with us on my second last day took many gorgeous pictures of the place. I’ll probably put it up here once I get him to resize it.

I learned alot from the emotional management course. The lecturers for the course were 3 amazing personalities in the field of psychology. All certified counselors. They kept me at the edge of my seat throughout. The topics I enjoyed most were on:

- Brain Gym

- NLP

- Brain functions

-Spiritual Quotient

-Boss Psychology

and many more were taught.

The day after we returned back home, we decided to visit the international book fair held at PWTC. I was delighted to find a book on Emotional Spiritual Quotient written by an Indonesian Author. I bought the English version and have started reading a few pages of it. I find it very refreshing as it interweaves the Islamic perspective with the conventional. A point of view that I am so keen to dig in.

Ok, that’s all the time I have for now. Will update more tomorrow.

Won Now!!

Wow.. I’d just won a NOW watch over at http://www.alexshalman.com/blog !! Thank you Saif for updating me on it! It sure made my day! I was just about to go into a sob fest about how exhausted I am from having to do everything at home and at work. But I’ll spare you the details. I can’t bear to infect my readers with undesirable vibes. I just have to shift my mindset and the email about my winning from Saif sure did the trick! :) Thanks for the gorgeous NOW watch Alex! I can’t wait to receive it!!

I’m back to my positive self! I must say, I’ve achieved alot this week. Many unexpected turn of events has led to my prayers being answered. Thank you Allah.. I’ve cried many tears of gratefulness this week. I’ve finally found the answers to getting through to the very special people in life. I’ve rekindled the love in my marriage and in my family. And it’s all happened God-willing. If I told you what happened that led to this happiness you’d probably be shocked. It’s an incident that I’m glad we came out alive. But I’m grateful for it as it has led to the bliss of the present moment.

And I just found out that I am a ‘water element’ - explains why I’m so easily moved. A colleague of mine attended a one-week course on ‘Organisational Behaviour’ and they were taught how to read people’s personality using knowledge in the field of metaphysics. It’s basically using birth dates and adding up numbers to form a group of numbers which create a pattern that you can analyze and reveal ones personality.

I found out that I’m actually good at financial management and that I am a family person. I am also someone who cannot sit still ( I always have to be doing something). Hmmm..very true.. But after watching Derren Brown analysing personalities of his subjects, it has led me to become abit skeptical. How can Derren Brown use the same script to describe the personalities of more than 30 different people? Meaning that it would depict that the 30 people have the same personalities?! He did it by simply selecting common personality traits among people world wide and putting it on down on an analysis script. He sure fooled many.

But it feels great to think that I am naturally good at financial management. It’s one area I’m striving to improve and excell at. So far it looks pretty promising. I still have to figure how to get hold of my current dream home by June this year. I’m sure the ideas will spring into my head pretty soon.

Derren Brown and Chess

I’ve never heard of Derren Brown and his clever tricks until Saif over at Saif Improvement put up one You Tube video on him. My brother who had read Saif’s post decided to look for more videos on Derren. Just thought I’d share with you his favourite (hint: my bro is a chess player):

Defining Marketing

Here is Joe Vitale’s definition of marketing = “sharing what you love in a passionate, enthusiastic and sincere way to the people who would be most interested to know about it.”

Exploring the World of Internet Marketing

Prior to joining Success University, I knew absolutely nothing about internet marketing. I didn’t even know the term existed! I had been blogging for a while then but it was just for the sake of having an online diary where I could pour out my thoughts on to. Like I mentioned, Success University opened the doors to the world of internet marketing for me. For this, I have my mentor, Zamri Nanyan to thank for. As my SU upline he has provided me with the right tools to discover the IM world while still allowing me to be independent to do my own exploring. I guess it also helps that there are many fantastic IM blogs around by seasoned pros. You can check out my links under ‘Internet Gurus’ on the right hand panel to visit some.

As I discovered new ways/tools to assist me in internet marketing, I’m starting to find IM even more fascinating. Let me see..ever since joining SU in November last year, I’ve learned to market/promote SU through article directories, forums, banners (ones provided by SU and ones done through team co-op where we pool our money to advertise on highly targeted sites), email marketing and the use of autoresponders plus recently creating my very own ebook (still yet to be taken action on).

On my own, I’ve discovered the joys of using mybloglog, link exchanges, entrecard, stumbleupon, entering contests held by other blogs and just recently using one buck wiki pages. It may not sound very much for those seasoned IM pros out there. But to me, this is a personal accomplishment I am rather proud of. They are baby steps, I know. But it’s definitely taking me somewhere I want to be!

I am grateful for having discovered internet marketing and being able to update my knowledge on it consistently.

Introduced to Yuna

It was my youngest brother who introduced me to Yuna. We weren’t formally introduced. He just played me her videos on YouTube. I don’t know much about Yuna. But from the videos I’ve watched, I can tell she’s one talented musician - she writes, composes and sings her own songs. She also plays the guitar and piano beautifully.

And did I tell you that she’s Malaysian? She’s also a muslim who covers her head (tudung wearing). Err.. good role model? Regardless of that, I am truly impressed with her song writing, singing and piano/guitar skills. Her passion shines through her music. It is in music that she has talents, passion and has put in effort. Thus making her successful and popular fast!

I don’t actually like to encourage idolising musicians. But I am just so impressed by her, I’m letting it pass. So here’s Yuna, Malaysia’s version of Marie Digby (I hope I don’t offend anyone - just my take) :

Rina’s One Buck Wiki Pages

OneBuckWiki!

It was quite some time ago that I won 100 One Buck Wiki pages. I didn’t realise how lucky I was then. Now that I’ve found out how these wiki pages work I feel ever so grateful to Max for coming up with this amazing idea. Those pages have since increased in price and now cost a whopping USD20 each. And for every 1000 pages being sold, page value will increase by another USD10. That’s abit like buying real estates!

The buying real estate part was actually described by author of EarnMoneyToBlog. He’s done a fantastic job linking his blog to a wiki page that he’s invested in. As he describes, having a OneBuckWiki page is great because it helps drive more traffic to your blogs. Even dotcom Mogul John Chow gives a nod to it.

I’ve done the same by linking my blog to one of my pages using the keyword: success-journal. I’m having fun coming up with keywords/names for the pages. So far I have about 10 keywords lined up. So I have 90 more keywords to think of for the 90 more pages that I still have! Imagine that (coming up with contents of the wiki takes some effort by the way)!! I have 100 pages each that are of USD20 value. So go figure the total value of my portfolio! Fantastic stuff right?! I am so grateful for these wiki pages.. I am!

By the way here’s my page!!

Children Forgive

Have you ever realised how forgiving children can be? Especially those below the age of 3. They always find it easy to forgive and forget. Adults should learn from these traits and not hold on to grudges. It’ll sure make the world a more peaceful and harmonius place. I am grateful for being able to forgive others easily.

I scolded my son yesterday for getting up to some mischief (which I shan’t elaborate on) that only 20 month olds can get into. But remembering my vow to be a more patient mother, I quickly apologised while putting him to bed. I told him I’m sorry and that he’s actually a very good boy. He just has to listen more to what mommy says for his own good (now I was starting to sound like my own mother).

The next morning, he’d start off the day cheerfully and gave me a hug and smile that melted my heart. Children are special in the way they can always wake up on the right side of bed. Eversince I’ve practiced waking up feeling grateful, my days have been like a child’s - knowing that there are many new things to learn in the day and all being fun and an adventure!

Love your children and those yet to come… Embrace them and give them your love and undivided attention.. Never be afraid to get in touch with the child in you through your own children. For you shall be cured of all adult ignorance.

New Faces at Work

I shall be getting a new chief boss at my place of work this week. I’ll also be losing my immediate boss. Today’s his last day here yet he’s still hard at work. He reminds me so much of my own father. One who gives his job/career full comitment and is forever trying to lighten the burden of others.

I hope things will stay ok even after he’s gone. He’s been promoted to a better position at a different place. Somewhere closer to his home. At a place where he’ll gain new and more joyful experiences. Perhaps an opportunity to travel more.. and definitely more money in his pockets.

He may not be reading this. I doubt many people I know read my blog anyway (I’d rather keep it that way - For some reasons, offline friends get awkward online - hope the same doesn’t apply the other way round.). Regardless of that, I would still like to congratulate him here (have done so offline) and wish him the very best. May he have success always. I’ve never found a boss better than him. Then again, I haven’t been in this service for very long. I only had one other boss but he is by far the best.

We’re all gonna miss him for sure. And the bosses remaining will have to buckle up and get ready to do more work once he’s gone. For, for as long as he was here, alot of work were being piled up on him because he is seen as one who delivers. It really isn’t that fair on him since it’s not like he gets paid for doing the extra work. But God is fair. And now he’s handsomely rewarded. Alhamdulillah..

I hope our new chief boss is super nice. His son is one rising star.. We’re all (the whole office) is giving him (the father) a warm welcome.
